Dr. Zahid Butt is a board-certified internist and gastroenterologist with more than 25 years of experience in health information technology (HIT). He is former Director of Clinical Informatics at St. Agnes Healthcare in Baltimore, and has served on several government and private sector Health IT task forces. He is currently Vice Chair of the HIMSS Quality and Patient Safety Committee and has chaired the HIMSS Performance Measurement Taskforce in the past. He is a nationally-recognized expert in quality measurement and has served on several CMS Technical Expert Panels (TEP) to develop and maintain quality measures for future quality reporting programs. In recognition for his expertise in electronic clinical quality measures (eCQMs) Dr. Butt was recently appointed to The Joint Commission's Pioneers in Quality Committee. Over the last 30 years, he has held a variety of leadership positions in diverse healthcare settings, and has successfully utilized technology to improve quality and efficiency in the office and hospital settings. He is uniquely qualified to provide key insights in the use of health IT to transition from volume- to value-based care delivery, regulatory reporting and payment models.
