Vik Bakhru

Dr. Vik Bakhru is currently the Chief Operating Officer at ConsejoSano, a leading venture-backed health technology platform for Spanish speakers that enables payers, providers and patients to simplify care, increase engagement and lower costs. Previously, Dr. Bakhru was Chief Operating Officer of First Opinion, Inc., a venture backed, digital health start-up based in San Francisco, CA. Before First Opinion, Inc., Dr. Bakhru served as Chief Medical Officer for Abercrombie & Kent Global Health, a Fortress Investment Group portfolio company that facilitates high quality, affordable medical travel. In addition, Dr. Bakhru worked as a Director at New York Presbyterian Hospital/The University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell in New York City where he managed an annual spend base of approximately $600 million for the purchase of all clinical goods and services. Prior to his role at NYP, Dr. Bakhru worked with the Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children (FIMRC), a non-profit he founded while completing his medical degree at The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences in Washington, DC. FIMRC ( is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing health care access in underserved areas of the developing world through a network of health centers in nine countries across 12 project sites. FIMRC now boasts a team of over 3,000 full-time staff and volunteers. Dr. Bakhru earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from The George Washington University as part of the Seven-Year Integrated Medical Program. After his undergraduate and medical education in Washington, DC, Dr. Bakhru did residency training in general surgery in Philadelphia and subsequently earned a Master of Business Administration degree in Health Care Management from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
