Claude “Trey” A. La Charité, MD, is the Medical Director for Clinical Documentation Integrity and
Coding at the University of Tennessee Medical Center (UTMC). He also serves as the Hospitalist Rotation Director for Internal Medicine Residency Program, University of Tennessee,
College of Medicine. Listed as one of “America’s Top Physicians,” he serves as a practicing hospitalist, a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, and the curriculum director for the University’s residency program’s hospitalist rotation.
Dr. La Charité has extensive publication and presentation experience including three books that target on clinical documentation improvement. His most recent presentations have focused on the application of cognitive science to drive quality improvements within target at-risk populations. In addition to his work at the hospital, Dr. La Charité also serves on national committees for the American College of Physician Advisors and regional committees for Amerigroup and Humana.
