Dr. Tracie Risling RN, PhD is a tenured Associate Professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Saskatchewan. She has an extensive and well established program of health informatics research. This work includes extensive exploration of patient empowerment, including operationalization and measurement. In addition, Dr. Risling explores social media and the advancement of professional and patient voice, and the development of patient-centered technologies. Dr. Risling explores the role of technology in supporting patient empowerment through data access, and the user-centered design of mobile technologies to support improved health outcomes. With several funded grants and publications in these areas, Dr. Risling continues to advance the science of informatics in collaboration with patients and her interdisciplinary colleagues.
