Teresa Jackson serves as the CEO and Executive Director of Sharing Life Community Outreach (SLCO) in Mesquite, TX, where she has held the leadership position for 18 years. Under Teresa’s leadership, SLCO has developed into an organization that provides a myriad of services, such as a state of the art client choice food pantry that provided over a million pounds of nutritious food to local families last year, a clothes closet, holiday programs, utility assistance, and job skills training for vulnerable individuals. In 2016, SLCO became the pilot hub in the North Texas Food Bank’s ten year expansion plan. The SLCO hub is a redistribution organization that provides food to community distribution partners and small food pantries in a regional service area. Not only is Teresa proficient at nonprofit management, volunteer management, fundraising, and program development, but is also an active member of the nonprofit community and alumni of the 2014-2015 class of the Data Driven Decision-Making (D3) Institute and the 2015 – 2016 Working Families Success Institute offered by Communities Foundation of Texas. Teresa’s commitment to serving the community has been further strengthened through her experience as a member of the 2012 class of Leadership Texas. Teresa also holds a certificate in Nonprofit Leadership from the Center for Nonprofit Management offered by Southern Methodist University.
In August 2014, SLCO partnered with PCCI in its efforts to develop Pieces IrisTM and the Dallas Information Exchange Portal (IEP), which served as foundational activities for participation in the Data Across Sectors for Health (DASH): Food for Health project. Teresa has been integral to the development of innovative frameworks to address diabetes, hypertension and food insecurity for under-resourced populations. SLCO and its commitment to service delivery and holistically serving clients will inform PCCI’s local and national efforts and help transform community health outcomes.
