Tania Tajirian

Medical Head, Hospitalist Service
Center for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH)
Dr. Tania Tajirian is the Medical Head for the Hospitalist Service at CAMH. She has undertaken many initiatives to advance the medical care of patients with severe mental health issues since obtaining full time academic appointment in the Department of Family and Community Medicine (University of Toronto). She currently holds the rank of assistant professor at University of Toronto and has a fellowship designation from College of Family Physicians of Canada. In 2010 she was recruited by CAMH to act as the lead physician (FHO/FHT) in establishing a new Family Health Team in Toronto named the Village Family Health Team. She established a unique clinic that not only catered to the complex needs of patients with mental illness, but also to residents of a recently gentrified neighborhood. In 2014 she was appointed as the clinical lead for CAMH’s hospitalist team. Hospitalists are primary care providers that work as consultants and take care of all the medical needs for all inpatients. They also act as leads for all code blues during working hours. Over the past three years in this leadership position, she has led many hospital-wide quality improvement initiatives that stem from her ongoing dedication to improve patient safety and knowledge translation through health informatics.
