Swati Abbott is the CEO of Blue Health Intelligence® (BHI®), a healthcare analytics and intelligence company that maintains the largest conformed healthcare database in the nation. The company leverages its vast database – containing more than 190 million unique lives and 10 years of longitudinal information – to provide proprietary software solutions, consulting, and big data to help payers and other healthcare organizations improve quality, reduce costs, and optimize performance. Under Ms. Abbott’s leadership, BHI has continually increased its data assets by bringing more health plans into its data repository and adding additional social determinants of health and clinical information. BHI was also recently certified as a Qualified Entity by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. With this distinction, BHI gains access to all Medicare Part A, B, and D fee-for-service claims for the entire U.S. Swati’s strategic direction has been responsible for numerous company innovations, including BHI’s receipt of the 2019 MedTech Breakthrough Award for Best Predictive Analytics Solution. This award specifically recognized BHI’s predictive analytic capabilities, which leverage the nation’s largest data set of 19+ billion healthcare claims, its advanced methodologies, and industry-leading, machine-learning tools. The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association selected BHI to produce a national predictive modeling algorithm to identify individuals who are likely to incur extremely high healthcare costs so that interventions can be made to lower them. Abbott frequently addresses audiences on healthcare analytic trends, quality improvement initiatives, and product innovation. This past year, she was a featured panelist at Bloomberg’s Future of Data event and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association’s Healthcare Forum. Ms. Abbott has a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Delhi University, India. She serves on the board of directors for Prognos, Inc., a private healthcare laboratory focused data and analytics company, and Magellan Health Inc., a for-profit managed health care company that is focused on complex healthcare management. She also provides guidance to the Industry Advisory Board for the University of Chicago’s Graham School’s Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics. In December 2019, Abbott was named to Fierce HealthCare’s inaugural class of "Women of Influence" for making a measurable impact on healthcare.
