Susan is currently the Group Director of Clinical and Change Leadership at Canada Health Infoway (Infoway) responsible for a team of interprofessional clinical leaders that serve as internal and external consultants to digital health project teams across Canada, as well as the national change management portfolio for Infoway. Susan started her career as a nurse working in medical surgical, long-term care and community settings. Her management skills and training led her to operational healthcare administration followed by more than 15 years experience in senior and project level consulting and strategic advisory consulting in health informatics and EHR initiatives across Canada, as an independent management consultant in Health Informatics. Susan's experience includes the development of a number of successful business cases for multi-year EHR initiatives for provincial governments in Canada, directing large project teams to design, develop and deliver system implementations; and an appointment as the Executive IT leader of a large clinical application management team that served over 27 acute care hospitals and community care sites in Western Canada. This clinical, consulting, IT and Informatics background provides a unique lens and proficiency in the area of engaging and translating clinician’s needs for digital health solutions. She has worked over the course of her career with stakeholders that include executive healthcare and IT leaders, government organizations, front line clinicians, academic faculty and researchers. Susan continues to support the profession of Health Informatics in Canada through volunteer work with COACH, Canada's Health Informatics Association and has achieved her CPHIMS-Ca credential. Susan is remains a tireless advocate for the patient safety and quality benefits of a fully interoperable EHR that enables care providers and supports seamless and timely sharing of clinical information across the patient journey.
