Sue Atkinson is a Principal with The Chartis Group and is a leader in the firm’s Informatics and Technology practice area focusing on Clinical Informatics and Technology. She has over 30 years of experience and has advised clients ranging from academic medical centers, integrated delivery systems and managed care organizations. Her breadth of expertise includes strategic EHR planning and implementation, change management and operational readiness, workflow optimization and clinical informatics. Ms. Atkinson thrives in helping our clients achieve the greatest value from their technology investments. She has assisted clients in both assessing and building their Clinical Informatics programs including EHR implementation post-live governance, informatics, data, analytics, IT structure and benchmarked staffing to support maximum value. In addition to healthcare IT consulting, Ms. Atkinson has extensive experience in healthcare quality reporting and improvement. She was an independent consultant to nationally recognized health plans and health systems, and served as an Assistant Vice President with the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) focused on accreditation and HEDIS quality measures. Prior to joining The Chartis Group, Ms. Atkinson worked for Impact Advisors and First Consulting Group. She is a member of both the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) and Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). Ms. Atkinson received her Master of Business from Santa Clara University and her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Alfred University. She has worked extensively with Epic Systems and is certified in Epic Orders and Orders Transmittal. Ms. Atkinson is also Lean Six Sigma certified and is a Six Sigma Green Belt.
