Steve Wiesner, MD is the Kaiser Permanente Integrated Disability Management Physician Advisor and also serves as the Chief of the East Bay Occupational Health Department for the Permanent Medical Group, a physician-owned and led practice serving more than 3.4 million Kaiser Permanente members. Dr. Wiesner joined the group in 1994 as a medical practitioner and works with other clinicians in supporting the organization’s mission to help patients regain their highest level of functioning following an injury or illness. A member of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the California Medical Association, he received an undergraduate degree in Communicative Disorders from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Wiesner completed his internship and residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Northwestern University Medical School/The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, where he continued as a faculty member and helped develop two outpatient sports medicine and musculoskeletal clinics.
