Program Executive Officer, Defense Healthcare Mana
Ms. Stacy Cummings serves as the Program Executive Officer for the Program Executive Office, Defense Healthcare Management Systems (PEO DHMS). The mission of PEO DHMS is to transform the delivery of healthcare and advance data sharing through a modernized electronic health record for service members, veterans, and their families. She provides direction to: the Department of Defense (DoD)/Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Interagency Program Office, the DoD Healthcare Management System Modernization Program Management Office (PMO), and the Joint Operational Medicine Information Systems PMO. Ms. Cummings oversaw the successful deployment of the DoD’s new electronic health record (EHR), MHS GENESIS, to four initial fielding sites in the Pacific Northwest, fielding to the first site within 19 months of contract award. Additionally, under her leadership, use of the Joint Legacy Viewer, the DoD and VA’s interoperability tool, more than tripled, and both the VA and the United States Coast Guard have decided to utilize the same EHR as the DoD. Cummings previously held senior executive positions within the Department of Transportation. She also served as the executive sponsor for the Joining Forces initiative to connect service members, veterans, and their families with career opportunities in transportation. Cummings started her career as an acquisition intern at the Naval Air Systems Command and spent 17 years with the Department of the Navy in logistics, maintenance support, and information technology acquisition and deployment. Cummings holds a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces; a Master of Science in Management/Information Systems from the Florida Institute of Technology; and a Bachelor of Science in Business Logistics from Penn State University.
