Global Chief Data Ethics Officer and Public Policy Executive
Sheila Colclasure serves as Acxiom’s Global Chief Data Ethics Officer and Public Policy Executive, directing Acxiom’s information use policies, compliance, consumer affairs, government affairs and related public relations for its operations globally. Colclasure provides client support and advocacy on privacy and the ethical use of data as a strategic business essential. Her primary areas of focus include enterprise-wide compliance with legal regulations, such as FCRA, GLB, HIPAA, Privacy and Safeguard Rules, Telemarketing Sales Rule and CAN-SPAM; industry codes of conduct including the Data & Marketing Association Privacy Promise and the Digital Advertising Alliance’s Interest Based Advertising Guidelines; Mobile App Choices and Cross-Device Guidelines and Acxiom’s own leading-practice privacy policies. In particular, she is working to advance accountability using a contextual interrogation against ethical considerations. She has developed and implemented an annual privacy audit function that is widely regarded as the best in the industry. Colclasure functions as corporate liaison to several industry standards-setting groups and research and policy development groups including the Information Accountability Foundation, Future of Privacy Forum, Center for Information Policy Leadership, Digital Advertising Alliance, Email Sender Provider Coalition, Mobile Marketing Association and Coalition for Sensible Public Record Access. Prior to joining Acxiom, she worked for the U.S. Senate, and then managed congressional and political affairs for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants in its Washington, D.C. office, focusing on legislative and regulatory initiatives as well as directing its political action committee. Colclasure has a master’s degree in communications, specializing in business and political communication.
