Seth Blumenthal is Director, Data & Innovation at PCPI, a Chicago-based, national nonprofit organization focused on improving health outcomes. Mr. Blumenthal oversees the National Quality Registry Network (NQRN), a PCPI program and a leading convener in the clinical data registry community. Over the last several years he has grown NQRN into the premier national hub for registry organizations and those using information from registries to improve health care. In addition to his leadership of the NQRN program, Mr. Blumenthal was the lead author on a widely used technical report on HIPAA and the Common Rule for registries, as well as on a book chapter for the 4th Edition of AHRQ’s registry handbook. He also conducted a national research survey on the use of clinical databases that has been submitted for publication. Mr. Blumenthal is an in-demand speaker on clinical registries, is a member of HIMSS and is active in data standards projects with HL7.
Prior to his work with PCPI, Mr. Blumenthal was a health care performance improvement leader at Presence Health and the University of Chicago. His past experience includes 15 years of management and software engineering roles in radiology informatics with GE Healthcare and other companies.
Mr. Blumenthal holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
