Sarah Fouquet is a Human Factors Research Scientist at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO. She obtained her PhD in Human Factors from Wichita State University in Wichita, KS. Sarah collaborates with both industry and academic partners regionally and nationally to optimize health informatics tools that are designed to make healthcare processes safer, more efficient, and more effective. Sarah approaches research from a socio-technical perspective, defined simply as the nexus of people, tools, technology, culture, and policy. To that end, Dr. Fouquet has provided design and interface guidance for developing mobile electronic health records interfaces based on usability testing, heuristic evaluation, and direct user review. Sarah's other projects within Children's Mercy focus on understanding and improving clinical workflow, enhancing the patient experience, and optimizing conditions for patient safety. She has presented her work at national and international conferences. Sarah also works with local high schools on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) projects designed to encourage students to pursue human factors and related disciplines as a professional career.
