Paul Conocenti is an experienced healthcare CIO. He is currently serving as the interim CTO at Verity Health System (VHS). In this role, he is orchestrating a challenging IT infrastructure transformation, which involves consolidating data centers for six hospitals into two colocation facilities. The role also requires establishing best practices for ITIL processes, enterprise architecture review boards, and governance procedures to align and optimize the IT investment.
Prior to his current role, Paul held many prominent positions. As SVP and CIO at City of Hope, Paul provided IT leadership and strategic direction for the organization’s medical center and Beckman Research Institute. At City of Hope, Paul transformed 100 years of paper-based patient care and business operations to digital processes. This transition migrated patient care from paper to a hospital-wide EHR system, which included 100% computerized physician ordering for some of the most complex chemo orders and treatment plans.
At City of Hope, Paul also helped streamline human resource and financial operations, including transforming supply change management processes by leading an enterprise resource planning system implementation. These, and other, new digital platforms were further optimized by the development of a new, modern-day data management platform with self-service analytics that supports clinical patient care, population health, translational research and business operations.
Before working at City of Hope, Paul served as SVP, Vice Dean and CIO at NYU Langone Medical Center; and as VP and Chief Information Architect for Mount Sinai NYU Health System. He also has significant experience with health information exchanges, serving as Chair of the Technical Committee for the New York Clinical Information Exchange and Chief Architect for the New York eHealth Collaborative.
