Osama Alswailem, MD, MA, currently holds the position of Chief Information Officer at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He is an accomplished and dynamic professional with extensive experience in the areas of Medical Informatics and Information Technology. In addition to his role as CIO, Dr. Alswailem is Assisstant Professor of Medical Informatics at AlFaisal University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he shares his knowledge and experience with some of the brightest young minds in the medical field. After demonstrating his leadership capabilities as Director of Medical Clinical Informatics, Dr. Alswailem was appointed Chief Information Officer at KFSH&RC. This marked the beginning of a new era for health IT at the Hospital. Since then, the new Healthcare Information Technology Affairs (HITA) department has successfully proven itself as an essential strategic partner for the Hospital, having implemented key projects which have resulted in enhanced patient experience, process improvement and service delivery. Dr. Alswailem strongly supports a collaborative work environment within the department and the Hospital, and is determined to develop a culture of innovation. His drive is to deliver better healthcare outcomes and improved patient experience through the use of advanced health applications, systems and technology.
