Michael Gagnon is an experienced senior information technology executive with over 35 years experience in diverse sectors including healthcare, defense, and academics. He is currently the executive director of HealtHIE Nevada the statewide health information exchange (HIE). He has been actively involved in advancing health information exchange for over 15 years. He helped form the Vermont HIE called VITL back in 2005 and has led HIE projects in Vermont, New York, Michigan, Wisconsin and Nevada.
He has worked with several leading healthcare and technology organizations such as the Mayo Clinic, Beth Israel, the University of Vermont Medical Center, Comagine Health and Lockheed Martin.
Michael brings an entrepreneurial spirit and dedicated energy for solving some of today’s most compelling health information technology problems. Michael’s peer reviewed research paper called “A Pragmatic Solution to a Major Interoperability Problem: Using Blockchain for the Nationwide Patient Index” was published last fall in Blockchain in Healthcare Today and is the basis for his proposed presentation.
