As the vice president of marketing strategy, Melissa Hendricks focuses on corporate marketing initiatives and the global stewardship of the Cerner brand. She leads teams responsible for earned and social media, experiential marketing, industry partnerships, digital experience, market intelligence and research, and internal communications. With more than 20 years of experience in technology and consumer packaged goods, Melissa drives marketing strategy for Cerner. She leads her team to execute integrated sales and marketing programs that increase business, improve market perception and drive growth. In her tenure at Cerner, Melissa led the rebranding of Cerner’s corporate identity and the complete redesign of Cerner’s web presence, including the launch of the company’s first corporate blog. Marketing strategy has been instrumental in advancing Cerner’s market position, including contributing the award of the DHMSM contract. She also led the company’s brand, and external and internal communications efforts around Cerner’s acquisition of Siemen’s Health Services, the largest acquisition in company history. Prior to joining Cerner in 2005, she held marketing and sales roles at Cadbury Schweppes, Schering Plough and the Dairy Farmers of America. Melissa is a graduate of the University of Missouri where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech communication and Spanish. She also received her Master of Business degree in marketing from Rockhurst University. Outside of Cerner, Melissa is on the board of trustees for the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) Education Foundation, board of directors and fellow of the Nashville Health Care Council, Boys Hope, Girls Hope of Kansas City, a governor for the American Royal, member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), Society of Healthcare Strategy and Marketing Development (SHSMD), The CMO Club and the American Marketing Association (AMA).
