Mary Anne Leach is Director, Office of eHealth Innovation, Governor’s office, for the State of Colorado, where she led the creation of the Colorado Health IT Roadmap and the funding of over $40M for statewide HIT initiatives. Mary Anne works closely with Colorado’s digital health innovation community, aligning innovation efforts around Roadmap priorities. Prior to this appointment, Mary Anne served for nine years as Sr. Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Children’s Hospital Colorado. During her tenure as CIO, Ms. Leach developed and led health information technology strategies and innovations which helped the organization improve quality and safety, support research, foster growth and geographic reach, integrate care teams and communications, improve operational performance, enable population health management, engage patients and families in their care, and enable the exchange of health information across communities and states.
Prior to joining Children’s Hospital Colorado, Mary Anne was VP Clinical Applications, Catholic Health Initiatives , where she delivered and supported clinical systems for 73 hospitals. Mary Anne also led her own health IT consulting organization for seven years (M.A. Leach & Company), focusing on electronic health record (EHR) implementations.
Mary Anne holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah, and holds the credential of Certified Healthcare Chief Information Officer (CHCIO) from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). In 2011, Ms. Leach was named CIO of the Year by Denver Business Journal in the non-profit category, and has appeared several times on the list of “100 Hospital and Health Systems CIOs to Know” by Becker’s Hospital Review.
