Senior Data Scientist, Chronic Disease Management Department
Mariana Simons is a Senior Data Scientist at the Chronic Disease Management Department of Philips Research. She holds a PhD in Numerical Methods and Algorithms from the University of Nijmegen in the Netherlands. She also completed “with distinction” the Data Science Specialization at the Department of Biostatistics at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her data science skills include R programming, getting and cleaning big data sets, exploratory data analysis, statistical inference, regression models, advanced machine learning techniques and developing data products. Her passion about innovation resulted in more than 50 patent applications as an author. At the moment she is a member of the core research team co-developing with Philips Lifeline the CareSage, a new predictive analytics engine that combines call center and wearable devices data to generate actionable insights to healthcare organizations to better manage elderly and chronically ill patients.
