Dr. Akre brings deep expertise in nursing senior level operations, clinical practice, education and nursing informatics, to advance nursing excellence through the integration of best available evidence and information technology.  Currently, Dr. Akre leads a team of nursing clinical informaticists supporting continuous improvement within a large integrated academic health system in the midwest, included acute, ambulatory, perioperative, service lines, oderset design and aligned clinical decision support. Through distinctive skills that combine and technical and clinical knowledge, along with expertise in informatics, Dr. Akre seeks to integrate strategic nursing informatics practice models to influence and improve clinical efficiencies operational, financial, and quality outcomes. Driving transformational strategies that meet the needs of clinicians, as well as the vision and goals, of health delivery systems is a passion, with particular emphasis on application of informational models, concepts, methods to advance smart, technology enabled support for clinicians. Dr. Akre's practice research interests are in early risk indicators, information models, care coordination, patient reported outcome measures and intelligent information solutions.
