Leigh Williams is a dedicated health information technology leader driving improvements in healthcare delivery through a deep understanding of operations and an ability to create high performing teams that deliver exceptional results. A senior Health IT leader at the University of Virginia (UVA) Health System, Leigh manages the portfolio of enterprise applications, oversees web and mobile app development and strategy, and leads the transformation of the health system's service management strategy. Leigh also teaches in the master's program for Health Informatics at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) and partners with Dr. John Showalter to deliver inspirational talks on opportunities to drive performance improvement with cognitive science, communicating the value of health IT, and game-changing emerging technologies. Their book "Mastering Physician Engagement: A practical guide to achieving shared outcomes" highlighting their approaches to partnering with physicians to transform healthcare was published in January 2017. Leigh was honored as a 2013 finalist for the American Health Information Management Association’s Grace Award in Recognition of Excellence in Health Information Management recognizing healthcare delivery organizations that demonstrate effective and innovative approaches in using health information to deliver quality patient care. Leigh is the recipient of the 2015 State of Mississippi HIM Champion award and earned UVA's top honor for employee engagement in 2016. She is the President-Elect of the Virginia chapter of HIMSS and a member of HIMSS Media's Healthcare Strategy Advisory Board.
