Leah Baron, MD, is a practicing anesthesiologist with over 30 years of experience. During the past 10 years she has been the Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mt. Holly, NJ.
Dr. Baron has been active in improving patient’s outcomes in perioperative setting starting with preoperative management and continuing into postoperative phase. She has been Medical Director of Preadmission Testing Clinic, developing standards for preoperative evaluations of surgical patients at Virtua Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Baron developed an early interest in management of patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) in perioperative setting, educating clinicians and developing hospital policies for perioperative management of patients with (OSA). She was instrumental in bringing continuous pulse oxymetry monitoring to med-surgical units within the institution.
Her latest interest in improving postoperative surveillance of patients susceptible to opioid induced respiratory depression resulted in adopting continuous capnography monitoring on med-surgical units.
In 2016 Dr. Baron was awarded Distinguished Career Award by Virtua Memorial Hospital Medical Staff in recognition of her leadership in advancing patient care and dedication to Medical Staff.
