Laurie has over 16 years of IT experience designing, developing and implementing clinical systems that align with organizational goals and strategic plans. She has successfully established collaborative relationships with physicians, clinicians, IT leadership, and support teams to deliver quality end-to-end results. Laurie has successfully utilized technology and process re-engineering solutions to maximize business efficiencies and execute multi-facility enterprise healthcare information system implementations.
Laurie’s current position is the manager of clinical informatics with the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). In this role, she is responsible for leading and establishing the strategic direction for the clinical informatics team and designing and deploying clinical information technologies that support the delivery of safe, efficient patient care across the clinical enterprise. Laurie provides direction in the planning, designing, and implementation of clinical information systems that support evidence-based knowledge while maximizing the functionality of clinical technologies that promote, adopt, and support the utilization and further development of the clinical information system.
Prior to her position at MUSC, Laurie was the Director of IT Clinical Enterprise Applications with Inova Health System and a consultant with IBM Consulting Services. She is CPHIMS and ITIL certified in IT Service Management and has been a practicing RN for over 30 years.
