Krista Bohlen, PharmD, is the Director of Personalized Pharmaceutical Medicine at Avera Institute for Human Genetics, Sioux Falls, SD. She graduated from South Dakota State University with a Doctorate of Pharmacy, and completed a post-graduate residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She started with Avera in 2010 as a Research Pharmacist providing pharmacy services for investigator initiated studies, National Cancer Institute cooperative group and industry trials for cancer, as well as interpretation of genetics clinical results in the context of medication recommendations.
Working for a very innovative health system, that position blossomed, and she currently leads the clinical team for pharmacogenomics and continues to help pioneer the implementation of GeneFolio® in the health system and EMR. Avera encompasses a network of more than 850 physicians and providers in over 300 hospitals and clinics across the 5-state region. She is energized by the challenges of innovation which support the health ministry in caring for patients and the opportunities to contribute to scientific advancement.
