Konnie Martin is the CEO of San Luis Valley Health, where she has provided administrative leadership for the organization’s two hospitals and five medical clinics for the last four years. Before that, she served as their Chief Operating Officer, providing direction on important projects such as the implementation of the organization’s EHR system. Prior to coming to San Luis Valley Health, She worked at Valley-Wide Health Systems for over twenty years. Konnie is seen as an innovative leader and is skilled in leveraging community stakeholders in health care conversations. In 2015, Konnie was asked to present on bringing communities together to talk about the future of healthcare by the American Hospital Association. She was recognized with the American Hospital Association’s “Grassroots Champion Award” for the state of Colorado in April of 2016, which recognizes those leaders who most effectively educate elected officials on major issues affecting the hospital’s role in the community, while also expanding community support and advocating on behalf of both their hospital and their patients
She has many community involvements, such as functioning as the Adams State University Presidential Search Committee Community Liaison, being on the board of the Alamosa County Economic Development Corporation and being appointed by the governor to the STEMI Task Force. Konnie also serves as treasurer of The Legacy Fund for La Puente. She has attained advanced leadership training at the Regional Institute for Health and Environment Leadership at the University of Colorado-Health Science Center, CDC; completed the Health Care Executive Program at the Johnson & Johnson/UCLA Executive Program; and earned the AHA Health Care System Transformation Fellowship. She obtained a Bachelor of Science from the University of Arkansas-Monticello, where her studies included Mathematics, Computer Science and Business.
