Kimberly R. Powell is a registered nurse, certified nurse educator, and assistant professor at the University of Missouri, Sinclair School of Nursing. She has extensive experience in gerontological nursing, long-term care, and information technology (IT). Dr. Powell’s research and practice focuses on using technology to improve quality outcomes for patients with multiple chronic conditions. Specifically, the use of electronic portals to engage patients and their family members in self-management. Dr. Powell has authored several manuscripts related to her work in these areas and has presented at several national conferences. Dr. Powell recently completed a post-doctoral fellowship with Dr. Gregory Alexander at the University of Missouri, Sinclair School of Nursing on an AHRQ funded study: A National Report of Nursing Home Quality Measures and Information Technology. Her emphasis during the post doctoral work was on aging, quality and informatics in long term care settings.
