Dr. Julie Ann (TJ) Gouveia-Pisano received her Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from Appalachian State University in 1983 and joined the Management team at Eckerd Drug Corporation. She continued working as a pharmacy technician and then pharmacist while she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy in 1993 and Doctor of Pharmacy in 1995 from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. TJ completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at Duke University Medical Center and became a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist in 1996. Post-residency she accepted a joint position with the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Assistant Director of Pharmacy Education for the Area Health Education Center and as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist and Assistant Director of the Duke Pharmacy Practice Residency Program with Duke University Medical Center. In her role as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist she provided both inpatient care to patients on the General Medicine Service and maintained an active ambulatory practice at the Duke Outpatient Clinic where she contributed to the development of a Diabetes Care Clinic. She is currently a Director, Medical Outcomes Specialist (MOS) with Pfizer Inc and a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPIMS). In this role, she is responsible for integrating clinical, market and account dynamics to establish collaborations with care delivery teams in order to identify clinical knowledge and quality of care gaps and develop innovative and targeted solutions that advance the quality of patient care and improve health outcomes.
