John Showalter, MD, MSIS is a physician, researcher and health system leader board certified in Internal Medicine and Clinical Informatics, with a Master’s degree in Information Systems and a proven history of building new programs and guiding them to results. He brings executive experience beyond typical CMIOs and CHIOs. This includes executive leadership for an $80 million IS department at a geographically diverse academic medical center for 18 months in partnership with the Chief Applications Officer in the absence of a CIO.
Dr. Showalter currently serves as Chief Product Officer for Jvion—an AI healthcare company based in Atlanta. He is an innovative clinical and technical executive responsible for the development and execution of product and new market strategy. In his role, Dr. Showalter works with marketing, sales, data engineering, data science, and delivery teams to create and build new cognitive science products to positively impact patient outcomes. Because of his leadership, the company has expanded its product line by 200% in just 12 months.
Prior to Jvion, Dr. Showalter served as Chief Health Information Officer and Chief Medical Information Officer for the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He has been recognized by cross industry awards including Premier 100 IT Leaders, Analytics All-Star, Clinical Visionary of the Year, and Health IT Young Blood (Top Young Health IT Executive). Dr. Showalter holds a biomedical engineering degree from Columbia University, an MD from Penn State College of Medicine, an MSIS in Healthcare Management and Delivery from Penn State University, and completed his internal medicine residency and medical informatics research fellowship at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
