John has over 35 years of health-care information technology experience across numerous health-care disciplines and automation domains. In 1994, following a succession of management positions at Siemens (now Siemens Healthineers), John commenced his healthcare consulting business focused on the development of health IT interoperability standards and the adoption of these standards by all levels of care provider entities and health information organizations. John was part of the founding team of Philadelphia-based Healthshare Exchange (HSX) in 2012, and continues to serve as a technical advisor, liaison to national and regional HIT initiatives, and an overall healthcare interoperability subject matter expert. On the HIT innovation front, John has served as executive director of the New Jersey Healthcare Innovation Center which evolved to the current New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII) organization for the promotion of innovative solutions in healthcare and other industries. Since its inception in 2005, John served as the technology manager of the Interoperability Showcase at the annual HIMSS National Conference, establishing it as the premier exhibition of clinical scenarios highlighting cross-enterprise and domain interoperability. In 2016. John was elected to serve as a co-chair of an HL7 Workgroup established primarily to facilitate collaboration between HL7 and other HIT standards organizations, e.g. IHE. Most recently, John has served as a technical and organizational advisor to HIMSS in the formation and operations of the new private sector owned, ISO-accredited HIT testing and certification program called Concert by HIMSS™. Upon the formation of the ONC, John was engaged as a contracted member of the government team for the recognition of healthcare information technology standards (HITSP).
