Jeffery Smith is the Vice President of Public Policy for the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) where he oversees and implements AMIA’s government relations and public affairs strategy. In this capacity, Jeff is responsible for both federal and congressional affairs, as well as press communications, working to ensure AMIA members are well-positioned to inform and improve health informatics policy and that outside stakeholders understand AMIA’s public policy positions. Previously, Jeff served as Vice President of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME).
Jeff holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Economics and a Secondary Major in International Studies from Kansas State University. He holds a Master Degree in Public Policy from the University of Maryland, College Park, where he specialized in healthcare policy, technology policy and federal financial management.
