Jean Marte is a first-year student at Cornell University’s Sloan Program in Health Administration. He has worked for Broward Health System, one of the ten largest Healthcare Systems in the US. Working for the international department, Jean has focused his career in improving satisfaction and outcomes for all international patients that arrived at Broward Health System 24 hours a day, 7 days of the week, and 365 days a year. This included 4 different hospitals in the Fort Lauderdale area. While working at Broward Health, he improved international patient satisfaction by 30% with various policy suggestions and changes. Moreover, he was able to reduce patient discharge time from the hospital’s maritime clinic business by 3 hours by implementing process improvement techniques. Jean has also been a part of multiple clubs during his career and educational tenure. He has been instrumental in Toastmasters International Club 9400, where he was secretary, Vice President of Education, and lastly President of the club. Under his and other board member leadership, the club grew from 8 members to over 40. He has also volunteered with United Way of Broward County. In his free time, Jean enjoys working out, reading, and going to new restaurants.
