Jared Cotta has an educational background in Biology and a Master’s Degree from the University of Miami in Public Health with an emphasis on Program Evaluation and Biostatistics. Prior to moving to Miami in 2014 Jared was working for a pharmaceutical consulting company that facilitated FDA approval for new medications. After graduating with his MPH in 2016, Jared was recruited to the Precision Medicine Initiative at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center as a project coordinator. In 2019, Jared was promoted to Project Manager and now oversees the strategic direction of the program. Under his supervision the Precision Medicine initiative maintains its founding objective, to provide treatment recommendations for patients with Next-Generation Sequencing results. The Precision Medicine Initiative has individually reviewed over 600 patients a provides actionable treatment recommendations on the majority of cases. Jared oversees Sylvester’s molecular tumor board which is open to community oncologists and international partners seeking to learn more about Personalized Oncology approaches. The Precision Medicine Initiative also helps enroll patients to clinical trials based on molecular results. Jared has presented information about Sylvester’s intrepid approach to precision medicine at ASCO’s annual conference in 2018 and 2019. Under Jared’s leadership the new focuses of the program include data management, technology driven optimization projects, and evidence-based decision support.
