James is an active industry and organizational spokesperson with UW Medicine Valley Medical Center, which is the largest non-profit public district hospital in the state of Washington. Since joining the organization in 2014, James has been one of the driving forces behind its strategic and operational Mobile Communication Strategy. He previously held executive management positions, including Hospital Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer. He currently serves on HIMSS Nursing Informatics and CNIO Executive Workgroup, and UW Graduate School Master of Health Administration mentorship program. He takes an active role in promoting Nursing Executive, Informatics and IT leadership positions, and in 2014 received a nomination for Minority Executive Leader of the Year with Modern Healthcare magazine. He holds an MSN in Healthcare Informatics and an Executive Leadership certification in Health Information Technology, Master of Business Administration in Sustainability, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Post-Graduate Certification in Medical Management, and is Nurse Executive Advance Board Certified (NEA-BC).
