Dr. Jack Ziffer is the first physician executive vice president and chief medical officer for Baptist Health South Florida, one of the nation’s top ranked healthcare organizations with 16,000 employees and 2,400 physicians. As a key member of the senior executive team, Dr. Ziffer leads the clinical enterprise and overall clinical vision of the organization, responsible for strategic, operational and policy matters for all physician initiatives. He oversees strategy and vision for the Baptist Health Medical Group, a multispecialty network of 250 employed, and the Baptist Health Quality Network, a clinically integrated network of more than 1,200 community physicians throughout the region. A major focus for Dr. Ziffer is development and implementation of uniform, high standards of evidence-based care throughout the health system’s eight hospitals, six specialty centers of excellence, as well as 50 outpatient destinations, diagnostic centers, urgent care centers and physician practices spanning the tri-county South Florida region. Dr. Ziffer has authored more than 100 articles, chapters and abstracts and given hundreds of lectures in the U.S. and abroad. He serves as a reviewer of numerous journals and is on the editorial board of the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Ziffer is a clinical professor of radiology at Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. In addition to his role as a key member of the senior executive team, Dr. Ziffer continues to serve patients as a board-certified radiologist and nuclear medicine physician, specializing in cardiac imaging. He is ranked as one of twenty physicians in the nation at the top one percent in nuclear medicine by US News and World Report and Castle-Connolly. By maintaining this hands-on clinical connection with patients, physicians and other members of the care team, Dr. Ziffer has earned the deep respect of his colleagues for both his leadership and practical medical expertise.
