Deputy Director of the Edmond and Lily Safra Children's hospital Dr Itai Pessach completed his pediatric residency and Pediatric Critical Care fellowship at the Sheba Medical Center in Israel as well as a clinical fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He holds an MD, PhD degree from the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev where he graduated Magna cum laude as one of the first students to complete a combined MD and PhD program. The unique combination of in-depth training and experience in Pediatric Critical care, Clinical immunology and basic science provides Dr Pessach with innovative aptitudes to the care of critically ill patients and a novel perspective to translational research in these fields. He is currently the Deputy Director of the Edmond and Lily Safra Children's hospital and a senior pediatric critical care physician. In recent years Dr Pessach has been involved in extensive research in the field of predictive analytics in critical care utilizing strategies such as "Big Data" and "machine Learning". In his other role as the Director of Medical Professional Education at the acute hospital at Sheba and the head of the pediatric section of the Israeli Center for Medical Simulation (MSR), Dr Pessach leads the development and implementation of multiple local and international projects aiming at improving the training of medical professionals in all stages of their careers. Dr Pessach is a co-author of over 30 scientific peer reviewed publications and has delivered numerous talks at important international meetings. He is the recipient of several awards and competitive research grants and has established ongoing scientific collaboration with several groups in leading research institutions including Harvard Medical School in Boston and the Rockefeller Institute NY. He holds appointment of Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Tel-Aviv University.
