Dr. Alexander’s greatest contributions are in Gero-informatics research and national health policy. He leads pioneering IT evaluations benchmarking IT effects on quality of care in nursing homes and other long term care settings. Specifically, he is producing the first report linking nationally reported nursing home quality measures with health information technology implementation and use, funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. His leadership has informed standards development organizations and health policy about nursing practice that impacts geriatric patients nationwide. His research is widely produced, recognized, and disseminated in national and international journal publications, conference proceedings, and book chapters.
