Career healthcare professional of 40 years and HIMSS Fellow. Spent the first 20 years in senior/executive finance roles in various areas of healthcare operation including patient access, revenue cycle, HIM, ambulatory clinics and physician practice management. Transitioned into an IT leadership role and have served as a CTO, CIO and most recently as a turnaround CIO for various large public sector, safety net, academic/teaching hospitals. Currently serve as the Chief Digital Officer for the Texas Hospital Association (THA) which boasts a membership of nearly 500 hospitals in Texas. This is a technology strategy and advocacy role which impacts healthcare delivery and IT performance at hundreds of Texas Hospitals. Also serve as President/CEO of the THA Foundation which includes oversight and development of a Quality and Patient Safety program which currently works with over 250 hospitals via multiple initiatives including a Patient Safety Organization, Critical Access Hospital and Rural Hospital HHS programs and the current CMS HiiN program. A recognized technology and security leader, recipient of the Southeastern US Information Security Executive of the Year in 2009 and the South Florida Technology Executive of the year in 2012. A certified Information Security professional since 2002 who holds internationally recognized credentials in security, audit and control, and governance areas of specialization (CISA, CISM, CGEIT).
