Double board certified in Pediatrics and Clinical Informatics, Everett Weiss serves as the Chief Medical Information Officer at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY. As an accomplished physician executive with a combined ten years of clinical, vendor and executive informatics leadership experience, he is responsible for all clinical informatics activities at Roswell Park supporting the meaningful adoption and utilization of existing and new innovative clinician- and patient-facing technologies. Among his many accomplishments, he has overseen the implementation of OpenNotes, patient generated health data, and a complete renovation of the EHR training program and state-of-the-art training space. He is also an active contributing leader of a clinician wellness program that seeks to build resiliency and reduce clinician burnout through targeted mindfulness education and activities, and quick easy-to-learn EHR utilization shortcuts. Dr. Weiss additionally serves on the board of directors of HEALTHeLINK – New York’s eight-western county regional health information organization – where he helps further the mission to extend patient health information benefiting both patients and healthcare providers alike across Western New York and the country at large. Fulfilling his passion in coaching and mentorship, Dr. Weiss is also an adjunct professor in the department of Biomedical Informatics at the University at Buffalo where he works with and advises students in the department’s undergraduate, masters, PhD and fellowship programs. Dr. Weiss has prior experience working in the EHR vendor space and as a practicing general pediatrician.
