Elizabeth Hartley-Sommers has experience in the healthcare industry from multiple points of view. She is educated as a nurse and is a nerd by passion. Elizabeth has attained qualifications as a Master of Science in Integrated Healthcare Management, Bachelors of Science in Nursing prepared RN and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. She has worked as a bedside clinician, a manager of home health and hospice agencies, designer and implementer of EMR technologies, and most recently as the Clinical Data Exchange Manager of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana. Elizabeth has been an insulin dependent diabetic for over 20 years. After experiencing the hassle associated with attempting to coordinate her own care between her PCP and specialists, Elizabeth became passionate about interoperability. Elizabeth also volunteers with the WEDI, HL7 and HIMSS organizations on committees, task forces, and workgroups dedicated to the advancement of interoperable clinical data. Within her nursing, business management and IT management practices she has been a staunch advocate for exchanging relevant data to improve the lives of patients.
