Cory Stephens is an ANCC board-certified Informatics Nurse Specialist (RN-BC) and a Senior HIMSS Member. He holds a BSN from Indiana University, an MSN in Nursing Informatics from Walden University, and the CPHIMS certification. Cory is an Informatics Nurse Consultant in the Department of Clinical Research Informatics at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. He is an adjunct faculty member in the Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences at Mary Baldwin University for the new HIIM program. Cory is a Senior HIMSS member and has volunteered at the annual global HIMSS conferences as a program assistant, program assistant mentor, guide at the Interoperability Showcase, and as a résumé reviewer at the Career Fair. Cory is a member of the TIGER International Task Force leadership team, where he voluntarily serves as the Domestic Co-Chair Liaison. Some professional areas of interest include workflow optimization, user-centered design, disruptive innovation, change management, organizational psychology, and finding creative solutions to challenging problems. Past projects have included streamlining workflows of an EHR training program, creating engaging digital content for EHR training courses using industry-standard authoring tools, and designing a quick-reference mobile app for clinicians. Current projects in which Cory is involved include developing medical logic modules (MLMs) for clinical decision support (CDS) and implementing a mobile electronic health record (EHR).
