Brian Lancaster is the CIO, VP of Information Technology for the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Nebraska Medicine. In this role he provides vision, direction, coordination and oversight of the delivery of the highest quality information technology to support the shared mission of the University of Nebraska Medical Center and the Nebraska Medicine to lead the world in transforming lives to create a healthy future for all individuals and communities through premier educational programs, innovative research and extraordinary patient care.
Lancaster joined Nebraska Medicine in 2015 and in his short tenure has led the technology strategy to achieve HIMSS Level 7, provided the data analytics platform that enabled the Vizient 2016 Quality Leadership Award as well as led the organization to be awarded the 2017 Most Wired recognition. Additionally, he executed a data center migration strategy that has allowed a higher level of service at a lower cost through the adoption of virtualization technologies. In light of his significant contributions to Nebraska Medicine, he was recently asked to lead the Information Technology department at the University of Nebraska Medical Center as well.
Prior to his time at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and the Nebraska Medicine he spent 17 years at Cerner Corporation where he was involved in a wide range of responsibilities including strategy, product management, consulting and development for Cerner's data warehousing, electronic medical record, physician workflow and population health solutions. Lancaster is a recognized innovator at Cerner with 7 inventions awarded patents and an additional 12 inventions awaiting patent approval.
