Vice President, Research and Analytic Services, VC of Research in Radiology
University Hospital Basel
Bram Stieltjes earned an MD at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam and a PhD in image analysis form the Leiden University. He has continiously worked at the interface between medicine, physics and informatics in the last 16 years. In the first 10 years, mainly at the German National Cancer Center, he worked on quantitative imaging-based disease characterization with a strong academic focus. This resulted in over 100 peer-reviewed publications in this field. In the last five years, at the university hospital in Basel, his work has focussed more on clinical translation of technology. First, as VC of research in radiology on bringing AI-solutions into clinical practise. Secondly, as VP for Research and Analytics in the IT Department for data curation and integration along patient pathways. This has resulted in several large scale industrial collaborations, in-house start-up creation and co-creating algorithm development focussed on data curation (NLP, imaga annotation) and User interface testing.
