Gynecologic Oncologist / Associate Director for Gynecological Clinical Trials

• Bobbie Rimel, MD is a gynecologic oncologist and the Associate Director for Gynecologic Oncology Clinical Trials at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She serves as the Associate Residency Program Director for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Clinical Research Physician Liaison for the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute. Dr. Rimel also teaches and mentors at Cedars-Sinai and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
To improve study accruals, Dr. Rimel has pioneered novel consent and enrollment strategies for underrepresented populations, including women, transgender patients and low English fluency patients. Dr. Rimel’s Research for Her project was awarded a Human Research Protection Award of Excellence for Best Practice by the Health Improvement Institute in 2013. Her work using digital transaction for clinical trial enrollments has led to other projects, specifically examining the comprehension of informed consent documents in digital versus paper formats and examining the consent processes used in Cedars-Sinai surrounding patients with low English fluency.
Dr. Rimel has published nearly 30 peer-reviewed research papers in the field of gynecologic oncology and has delivered over 60 poster presentations in addition to numerous invited talks, peer presentations and community lectures.
Before her work at Cedars-Sinai, Dr. Rimel completed a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Washington University in St. Louis and a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern University. She earned her Doctor of Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine.
