Dr. April Giard has more than 26 years of experience in healthcare and has held numerous leadership positions throughout healthcare. In her current position, as a system VP, CNIO, her role is critical to linking care delivery and community needs with the increasing needs of business and technology. As national health reform continues to take shape and change, ensuring patients continue to receive the right care, at the right time, and in the right place is critical. April’s role is strategic for clinicians and the patient. Leveraging the deep clinical talent in her healthcare system to provide input into decisions related to the development, deployment, re-engineering, optimization and integration of health IT assets will be a focus for her in the next years ahead. April’s experience with implementing and maintaining an enterprise clinical informatics program has provided many benefits to the ongoing adoption and performance of technology in patient care. Passion for nursing coupled with leveraging technology to assist nursing and other clinicians in providing excellent care, has been a focus of publications and presentations nationally.
