Ann Marie Edwards currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Alliance Cancer Specialists in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. With a focus on value-based care, Edwards participates in the CMS Oncology Care Model as one of only 200 participating practices in the United States. Having spent over 25 years in medical practice operations including management roles in neurosurgical, orthopedic and behavioral health specialties, she has primarily focused on proper coding of services, maximizing operational efficiencies and mechanisms for payer contracting and reimbursement. Edwards has worked closely with payers to develop and revise policies and to correct reimbursement trends that affect practices.
In 2003, Edwards founded Physician Practice Solutions, LLC, a coding and practice management consulting company. Through PPS, she provides physician practices with support in coding education, revenue audits, practice management, and billing and collection services across various medical specialties. She has spoken nationally on coding and reimbursement issues, and has served as a speaker and consultant to several major pharmaceutical companies and the International Oncology Network. Edwards serves on the President’s Council of the National Patient Advocate Foundation and Genentech’s National Practice Management Leadership Council.
Edwards has contributed articles to various publications including the AAMA Executive and Financial Management Strategies for Medical Offices. She is a member of ACCC and AOHA and is certified by the American Academy of Professional Coders.
