Dr. Alexander Elbert is a Senior Director of Patient Registry Program at Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. He received his degree in Chemical Engineering from Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and PhD in Material Science from the Institute for Superhard Materials, where he was working on technologies to create diamond tools and diamond-containing materials. Alexander Elbert became involved in healthcare information and technology in 2002, while working on development of electronic medical records (EMR) for small and medium-sized medical practices. Later, he managed an implementation of GE Centricity (Logician) EMR at the infectious diseases department at Georgetown University Hospital (2007). After joining CFF in 2008, Dr. Elbert was working on transitioning the CF Patient Registry to the new WEB platform, a project that was successfully completed in 2010. In cooperation with the CF subject matter experts, he designs and maintains the CF Patient Registry data forms and ensures the quality of the registry data. Alexander Elbert leads the CF registry team, actively participates in international data harmonization projects and helps with Phase IV trials execution. He is also a part of the team that produces the annual CF Registry reports and manages the online registry reporting tool for clinicians, CFSmartReports WEB application.
