Alanna Lavelle is Senior Principal at MITRE Corporation, supporting Program Integrity portfolios.  With over 37 years’ experience in this arena, she provides counsel and direction on initiatives to combat fraud, waste and abuse in government programs to include CMS.  Prior to joining MITRE, she spent 10 years as Director of Special Investigations for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield’s national investigations.  Prior to that, Ms. Lavelle spent 25 years as an Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, (FBI) where she managed criminal investigations of complex healthcare fraud involving kickbacks, false claims, medical identity theft, and money laundering. She has testified in numerous criminal trials involving complex healthcare fraud matters in five Judicial Districts,  as well as the U.S. Congress.  Ms. Lavelle holds an MS in Conflict Management and a BA in International Relations from the University of Minnesota and is currently an Adjunct Professor at the University of New Haven in the Criminal Forensics Department.
