Dr. Axelson is a founding member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry committee, currently serving as the co-chair.
Dr. Axelson helped update depression screening criteria with Mathematica Policy Research. In March 2016 he was part of the Kennedy Forum/National Council Workgroup Optimizing Technology to Improve Access and Efficacy of Behavioral Treatments and is supporting innovation using the Kennedy Forum five point blueprint.
Dr. Axelson graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine and continued his psychiatric residency training at its Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. He served a term on the American Psychiatric Foundation’s board. For the last decade he has provided leadership for the Advisory Committee of the Partnership on Workplace Mental Health.
