Abbie Barbir is the senior security architect at Aetna where he advises in global strategy and implementation in the areas of identity management, mobile devices, authentication and security. Formerly Barbir served as a VP and senior architect as a member of Bank of America Global Information Security.
Barbir is involved in many security related activities within ITU-T SG17, FIDO Alliance, OASIS, Canadian Advisory Committee (CAC) ISO/IEC JTC1/SC 38 and JTC1/IoT. Barbir chairs the Identity Management question in ITU-T SG17 and ISO/IEC JTC1 SC 38, and serves on the board of the FIDO Alliance.
His record of accomplishment in building and delivering efficient solutions that transform emerging technologies into strategic business advantages has made him a trusted adviser to senior management to assist them in navigating through complex technology options and business decisions.
Barbir holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
